This weekend will be a bitter sweet event going on Saturday. A local young street artist that went by the name Shocker, has passed away recently. He had made a great impact within his community and among his peers he was greatly loved and respected. In honor to his memory, many local artist have come together to put together a benefit show in efforts to raise money for his family to arrange a proper burial for our fallen brother. Its bitter because we have lost such a talented individual, yet sweet because so many artist will be convening to pay there respects and create amazing work to honor a fellow creative soul.

The event will be at the Empire Seven Studio near Japan town. I have donated a piece which will be for sale at the event. Come purchase some art work for a good cause and enjoy the creative energy.

A wise man once told me, "...one thing a artist cant afford to do, is not draw-- always draw. Everyday"

Recently the city of Los Angeles made a controversial decision to begin regulating and at some extent, do away with its public art that adorns its streets. Graffiti and the street art scene has no doubt flourished throughout the recent years-- causing even big art collectors to start thieving the streets of its free art. Well-- what obviously many find value in and consider art, some local governments and politicians think other wise. They much rather see advertisement of some corporation trying to sell you a fast food value meal, liquor or cigarettes. Check out this interesting article that was written on the LA Weekly site regarding the city of LA's decision and what the legendary street artist Saber did to show his objection. Fight for the arts.
